Consultation has concluded
Randwick Council is planning to construct a multi-purpose court in Baker Park, Coogee.
A key objective of our Open Space and Recreation Strategy is to ensure everyone can participate in sport and recreation.
Installing multi-purpose courts - places on which multiple sports like basketball, netball, or handball can be played - across Randwick City allows more opportunities for the community to be active in their local area.
Baker Park is already well-used, with an existing fenced playground, fenced tennis courts, an off-leash dog area, and a toilet block. These facilities will all remain in place – including the tennis courts – with the multi-purpose court to be added as an extra feature for the community.
We're also exploring what else we can add around the court to make it a fun place to spend time at - whether it's extra line markings, a brick wall, or seating opportunities!
Fenced half court with line marking and decorative floor mural (Location and source unknown)
Half Court with decorative line marking and seating wall (Location: Arthur Phillip Playground Parramatta / Source: City of Parramatta)
Have your say by completing our quick survey, which includes questions about how you currently use Baker Park and your thoughts on our proposed multi-purpose court.
Consultation open: 8 September to 7 October 2025.
